
Philip Shinko Squire,
Sensei
Shinko, Sensei is the teacher and leader of Green
Mountain Zen. He trained for ten years full-time at Yokoji Zen Mountain
Center in southern California from 1994-2003.. During this time he worked as
facilities supervisor, administrator and served as head monk. In
2004, he completed his formal studies and returned to New
Zealand. Shinko, Sensei, received Dharma Transmission (authorization to
teach) from YZMC abbot, Charles Tenshin Fletcher, Roshi in 2006.

grew up in Wellington, and holds a Master's degree in agricultural
engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in the United States.
He currently works for a
Wellington environmental non-profit leading energy efficiency initiatives.
Shinko, Sensei is married to Claudia and the father of Eliza, Phoebe, and
Olive, (three young and very energetic girls).
Sensei is a registered
marriage celebrant. He is also available to conduct rites of passage
such as naming ceremonies for new babies, house blessings, and marking of
significant events in a person's life.
